Cabrera sugiere bautizar el Gran Teatro del Cibao con nombre de Johnny Pacheco
NUEVA YORK._ El reconocido empresario de espectáculos Félix Cabrera, amigo por décadas del fallecido creador de la salsa Johnny Pacheco, sugirió al alcalde de Santiago de los Caballeros y al Ministerio de Cultura que se bautice al Gran Teatro del Cibao, con el nombre del maestro mundialmente afamado y cofundador de La Fania All Stars.
Cabrera, dijo que ningún otro sitio es más adecuado que el Gran Teatro del Cibao para inmortalizar en la memoria del mundo el nombre y los aportes a la música tropical que hizo Pacheco.
El empresario también propuso a raíz de la muerte de Pacheco que se erijan dos estatuas en su honor, una en Nueva York y otra en Santiago, ciudad natal del prolífico músico, quien era nativo del barrio Los Pepines en esa ciudad, la segunda más importante de la República Dominicana y de donde emigró a Estados Unidos, radicándose originalmente en La Villa de Haverstraw con sus familiares, a 70 kilómetros del centro urbano de la metrópolis.
Cabrera explicó que Santiago fue la cuna de Pacheco de cuyo origen nunca renegó manteniendo en alto el orgullo dominicano y latino.
“Hablamos de un dominicano ilustre que recorrió el mundo y nunca se vio envuelto en escándalos, codeándose con personas de todos los sectores desde las celebridades del Jet Set (Alta Sociedad), hasta los más pobres”, añade Cabrera.
Expuso que por eso, Pacheco se ganó la admiración de todos: pobres, ricos, seguidores de la salsa y fanáticos de otros ritmos, además de que tenía una sonrisa afable, era muy sociable y generaba empatía con todos.
“Honesto, trabajador y socializador, el maestro Pacheco no solo es merecedor de que se le ponga su nombre al Gran Teatro del Cibao y las estatuas sino que también deberá permanecer en la memoria de su pueblo y el mundo, como la principal figura de la salsa”, dijo Cabrera.
“Fue el más grande aportador a la música latina al crear el género de la Salsa diciendo que ese nombre es la mezcla de los diferentes ritmos latinoamericanos que interpretan las grandes voces de la Fania All Stars y América Latina”, agregó.
Señaló que entre los méritos de Pacheco también hay que sumarle el que la salsa se dio a conocer en todo Estados Unidos, Japón, Europa y otras partes del mundo gracias a su talento e interés en convertir a la Fania en el único fenómeno musical que hasta es irrepetible en la historia de la humanidad.
Cabrera montó alrededor de 50 conciertos y festivales de la salsa con Pacheco como figura central, cosechando una larga amistad con el fallecido.
