UASD conmemora 41 años asesinato Orlando Martínez

Santo Domingo.- La Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) depositó una ofrenda floral al conmemorarse ayer el 41 aniversario del asesinato del periodista Orlando Martínez, por fuerzas represivas del gobierno de los Doce Años de Joaquín Balaguer.
El rector de la academia, Iván Grullón, pronunció el discurso central de la actividad que se llevó a cabo en la avenida José Contreras, en la Zona Universitaria, donde cayó abatido el comunicador y donde reposa el busto en su honor.
Grullón dijo que un 17 de marzo de 1975, fue asesinado el periodista Martínez, por su posición vertical a favor de esa población depauperada, a la cual el gobierno de turno y sus aliados trataban de acallar mediante el engaño, la represión y el terror.
Justificó el acto realizado por la UASD en el lugar donde fue asesinado el distinguido periodista, “en virtud del compromiso de resaltar los valores de la sociedad dominicana”.
Agregó que “esta ofrenda floral constituye un acto de justicia que procura contribuir a que los jóvenes conozcan a un periodista de la luz, que cimentó su vida en los principios éticos y valores morales en que se sustenta la República que nos legaron los padres de la Patria”.
El rector de la UASD, tras hacer una breve descripción de las luchas de las masas populares que se libraban durante el gobierno balaguerista donde desarrolló sus actividades el destacado comunicador, indicó que Martínez fue un periodista emblemático que convirtió su profesión en un sacerdocio y murió por sus ideas en defensa de los obreros y los campesinos dominicanos.
Grullónculminó sus palabras diciendo que “es justo y conveniente que las presentes y futuras generaciones conozcan a los hombres que lucharon, se sacrificaron y hasta llegaron al heroísmo de ofrendar sus vidas en aras de la justicia, la libertad, la democracia y la paz en la República Dominicana”.
Destacó la perseverancia de la familia Martínez Howley y de Narciso Isa Conde, en el logro de la condena a los culpables intelectuales; asimismo, llamó a los universitarios a insistir hasta conseguir una justa condena a los culpables del asesinato del pasado rector, maestro Mateo Aquino Febrillet.
Por la UASD, estuvieron presente en el acto, el exrector, doctor Porfirio García Fernández; el vicerrector Docente, doctor Jorge Asjana David; el vicerrector Administrativo, maestro Editrudis Beltrán Crisóstomo; el Secretario General, maestro Héctor Luis Martínez; el director de la Escuela de Comunicación Social, maestro Rodolfo Coiscou, así como decanos, directores de escuelas y departamentos.
La sirvió de escenario para la participación de algunos dirigentes de izquierdas y personalidades entre los cuales se encontraban: Narciso Isa Conde, dirigente del Partido Caamañista; Juan Gómez, Secretario General de la Fuerza de la Revolución; y Sergio Martínez, hermano de Orlando, así como el poeta Mateo Morrison, quien exclamo un poema alusivo al periodista malogrado.
