Prestigioso periodista califica de “sabia” decisión de dedicar desfile a hermanas Mirabal

NUEVA YORK._ El prestigioso periodista Adalberto Domínguez, dirigente nacional del Colegio Dominicano de Periodistas (CDP), consideró que la decisión de los organizadores del desfile dominicano, que se realizará este domingo en la Sexta Avenida de Manhattan, de dedicarles el evento a las hermanas Mirabal, es “sabia e inteligente”.
Aclarando que su posición es absolutamente personal, Domínguez, dijo que con la decisión, la directiva del desfile, “exalta una vez más el rol que en la historia de las luchas sociales, económicas y políticas, y en los acontecimientos culturales y religiosos de la República Dominicana, ha desempeñado el género femenino, al dedicarles la parada”.
Dijo que el anuncio hecho por los directivos del desfile, “ha sido bien recibido por la comunidad dominicana progresista e interesada en preservar y proyectar los valores patrios y culturales en el exterior, ya que las hermanas Mirabal representan el martirologio y el heroísmo de la mujer dominicana, desde que se sucedieron los acontecimientos del 25 de noviembre de 1960, cuando fueron asesinadas junto con el chofer que las transportaba, Rufino de la Cruz”.
Domínguez señala que “son interminables las páginas que se podrían escribir sobre la historia concerniente a las hazañas heroicas y patrióticas de las hermanas Mirabal, cuyos horrendos asesinatos fueron vendidos a la prensa como un trágico accidente por el sátrapa Rafael Leónidas Trujillo, quien impartió la orden para el triple asesinato que constituyó el último de los acontecimientos que despertó la conciencia entre la población y que culminó, seis meses después, con el asesinato del caudillo el 30 de mayo de 1961”.
El prestante comunicador precisó que “los asesinatos a garrotazos de que fueron víctimas las hermanas Mirabal, quienes se habían convertido en auténticas heroínas de la lucha clandestina anti trujillista, repercutió tanto a nivel mundial que la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) estableció el 25 de noviembre como el Día Internacional de la No Violencia Contra la Mujer, en la conmemoración cada año del abominable crimen”.
Sostiene que “así como la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas reivindicó a las hermanas Mirabal, reconociendo en ellas que con sus luchas heroicas sirven de ejemplo a las féminas en el mundo, al aprobar su resolución en diciembre de 1999 para honrar anualmente sus memorias, a propuesta de la República Dominicana con el apoyo de 60 países, la Junta Directiva de la Dominican Day Parade, Inc., ha tomado una decisión sabia, inteligente, justa y honorable, al dedicarles el Desfile Dominicano de Nueva York”.
Recordó que Patria, Minerva y María Teresa Mirabal nacieron y crecieron en el seno de una familia rural acomodada en el paraje Ojo de Agua, en Salcedo, el municipio más importante de la provincia que fue rebautizada en su honor con el nombre de Hermanas Mirabal, a la cual está dedicada la edición de este año del Desfile Dominicano de Nueva York, el que se realizará a partir del mediodía de este domingo 14 de agosto a lo largo de la avenida de Las Américas, en Manhattan.
“A propósito de este evento, es justo destacar la dedicación, los esfuerzos y la transparencia con que se ha manejado la Junta Directiva de la Dominican Day Parade, Inc., ante la comunidad dominicana que, gracias a la jurisprudencia del fiscal general del estado de Nueva York, Eric Schneiderman, y de sectores sensatos y honorables de esta etnia inmigrante y nativa de los Estados Unidos, supo hacer una excelente elección de personas con méritos suficientes y experimentadas en el activismo comunitario para dirigir el desfile, muy a pesar de voces que responden a intereses marcados”, agregó Domínguez.
