Muere el merenguero dominicano Ray López, “El Misil”
El cantante dominicano que hizo carrera en Puerto Rico con el grupo de merengue Zona Roja, Ray López , conocido como “ El Misil” falleció ayer, viernes, según confirmó su excompañero de la música, Reynaldo “Chino” Santiago.
En las redes sociales y medios de comunicación trascendió en la noche de ayer viernes, 19 de julio la muerte del merenguero que inició su carrera profesional con el merenguero Peter de la Cruz y su orquesta. Luego, al mudarse a Puerto Rico, alcanzó la fama a partir de la década de 1990, época gloriosa para el merengue en la isla.
Se desconoce la causa de la muerte y hasta el momento se sabe que López falleció en Nueva York, ciudad en la que vivió sus últimos años. A López le sobreviven 13 hijos.

Un pedacito de esta canción de cuando estuvimos en Zona Roja”, compartió Chino en una publicación en sus redes sociales que incluyó fotos y la música de López.
López perteneció a importantes agrupaciones del país como la de Sandy Reyes, Orquesta Joven, Jerry Vargas, Orquesta Internacional y Jacinto Gantier,
No obstante, al mudarse a Puerto Rico se integró a una de las agrupaciones favoritas de la década de 1990, Zona Roja. López estuvo con Chino Santiago y con Gabgy Arias en Zona Roja. Arias también lamentó la muerte de su hermano musical en las redes sociales.
“Nuestro querido Ray López (El misil) se nos adelantó a un viaje que todos en algún momento tendremos que ir. Pero nos deja su jocosidad y su forma tan peculiar de decir las cosas; sus canciones y sus bailes que disfrutamos tanto en las diferentes orquestas que participó. Tus hermanos de Zona Roja te decimos hasta luego hermano”, expresó Arias.
Los integrantes de Grupo Manía también lamentaron la muerte de López, a través de un mensaje en sus redes sociales.
“Nos unimos al dolor que atraviesa nuestro género y sus familiares por la pérdida de nuestro amigo @elmisilraylopez3445cantante y uno de los mejores bailarines de todos los tiempos, compositor de uno de los temas más emblemáticos de nuestra agrupación TEMA: LOCO Y LOCO ! Que Dios le conceda el descanso eterno”, lee el mensaje publicado en la cuenta de Grupo Manía.
El Misil, además de ser parte del grupo Zona Roja, pudo trabajar con otras figuras de la música como Barreto y Tu Plena, Eddie Ricardo, Arnaldo Vallellanes y Los Roque, entre otros.
