Gobierno construirá cinco grandes terminales para transporte de pasajeros
SANTO DOMINGO. La directora ejecutiva del Instituto Nacional de Tránsito y Transporte (INTRANT), Claudia Franchesca de los Santos, informó hoy que, dentro de las soluciones al descongestionamiento del tránsito en ciudad, a aplicar por parte de la institución, está el diseño de cinco estaciones o terminales para el transporte terrestre de pasajeros interurbano.
De los Santos, explicó que estas terminales están contenidas en plan de transporte de pasajeros que prepara el Ministerio de la Presidencia para descongestionar el centro de la ciudad de Santo Domingo, dichas terminales serán construidas por el Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Comunicaciones.
“Dentro del Plan de Movilidad está establecida la construcción de estaciones interurbanas en las afueras de la ciudad, a los fines de que las rutas interurbanas lleguen a esas terminales. Las rutas urbanas se encargarán de movilizar a los pasajeros que llegan a la ciudad desde el interior y comunidades aledañas a la ciudad”, sostuvo Franchesca de los Santos.
La directora del INTRAT habló en estos términos al ser entrevistada, en el programa “Revista 110”, que se transmite por los canales Coral 39 UHF, 39 de claro TV y 8 de Tricom.
Dijo que, con la construcción de terminales, se busca evitar la entrada a la ciudad de autobuses del transporte interurbano, lo que reduciría considerablemente el congestionamiento de las vías en el Gran Santo Domingo. También limitaría la práctica de abordaje de pasajeros en lugares inadecuados, lo que ayudaría en términos de seguridad vial y seguridad ciudadana.
“La idea es sacar estos vehículos de grandes dimensiones del centro de la ciudad y descongestionarla. Están identificadas las zonas donde se construirían la del este, la del oeste, la del norte, que es justamente en la estación Mamá Tingó del Metro, y las del sur corto y sur largo, para cinco en total”, explicó.
Terminal de Boca Chica a buen ritmo
Se recuerda que en Boca Chica, el Ministerio de Obras Públicas construye, la primera de estas terminales de pasajeros, como parte integral de las mejoras que ejecuta el gobierno en la infraestructura vial.
Contará con parqueos, área de espera para pasajeros, área para despacho de unidades vehiculares, parada techada para las motocicletas. Cuenta, además, con accesos a las calles locales, de modo que la flota de transporte público no obstruya el tráfico de paso que circula a nivel de la Autopista.

En otro orden la funcionaria se refirió al tema de los parqueos y las posibilidades que existen para mejorar ese problema. Dijo que para prohibir los parqueos hay que darle opciones al ciudadano, en tal sentido se están ponderando distintas posibilidades, en coordinación con las alcaldías.
“Se han evaluado opciones de parqueos subterráneos, incluso por parte de la Alcaldía del Distrito Nacional tengo la información de que la semana pasada estuvieron en México, a los fines de identificar los procesos de construcción de este tipo de parqueos, porque definitivamente en la ciudad de Santo Domingo, la ciudad de Santiago y otras ciudades del país, existen poca cantidad de parqueos, dijo.
“La Alcaldía y el Ministerio de Turismo se encuentran evaluando diferentes zonas, específicamente en la Zona Colonial y áreas aledañas; en el polígono central hay muchas personas habilitando solares para convertirlos en parqueos, entonces las Alcaldías están buscando acuerdos para que permanezcan abiertos hasta ciertas horas de la noche por la situación de los restaurantes y colegios en las diferentes áreas”, detalló.
Cambio de horarios para mejorar tránsito
Refiriéndose a este tema Claudia Franchesca de los Santos, recordó que en el pasado se logró que las plazas comerciales abrieran más tarde que la escuela, las oficinas y demás, pero el INTRANT ha ponderado otras posibilidades al respecto.
“Con otras medidas, como por ejemplo extender el horario de servicio de las oficinas públicas que dan servicio, por ejemplo para renovar una licencia de conducir, donde la gente entienda que no tiene que hacerlo en la mañana, sino que tienen más horas del día para estos procesos. Crear puntos por ejemplo como tenemos en Multímetro Churchill de renovación de licencias y a nivel nacional para que la gente no tenga que moverse a donde están las oficinas públicas a la misma hora”, aseguró.
