Dramático testimonio de Aquiles Correa: la covid le pega fuerte y ahora sufre hasta de diabetes.
Santo Domingo.- El covid-19 le dio duro al showman Aquiles Correa. Fue tan fuerte que entre las secuelas está la de que a partir de ahí sufre de diabetes.
“Me vi llorando muchas noches en soledad antes de dormir sin saber si iba a despertar. Verme ayudado con oxígeno para respirar aterra. ¿Pánico? Ojalá y no les pase”, reveló hoy Correa en un tuit.
Su dramática situación inició el 12 de diciembre cuando fue diagnosticado de covid, el contagiante virus que ha llevado a los cielos a 3,066 dominicanos.
El domingo 20 de diciembre no pudo más. Su sistema inmunológico comenzó a resentirse y a entrar en emergencia. Ese día ya no aguantaba un segundo más el malestar. A la familia no le quedó más remedio que llevarlo de urgencia a un hospital.
“Yo me venía sintiendo mal desde el jueves y el domingo (20 de diciembre) me llevaron volando a emergencia, donde me dejaron internado hasta el 24 de diciembre, que pedí que me dejaran ir a casa porque era Nochebuena”.
Lo que Correa en principio pensó podría rebasar se convirtió en una pesadilla de la que en la parte más crítica salió negativo, casi un mes después de ser detectado con el virus, pero que hoy día no termina porque ha tenido que cambiar su estilo de vida, sobre todo en la alimentación y la bebida.
El actor de las películas “Super bomberos”, “Sanky Panky”, “Los Domirriqueños”, “Santi Clo”, entre otras, se vio impotente en la cama del hospital y según relató a Listín Diario tuvo que ser asistido por oxígeno en los días más críticos, aunque no llegó a cuidados intensivos ni ser entubado.
“Tenía muchas dificultades para respirar, hubo que ponerme oxígeno, y yo lloré muchas noches Ramón, con miedo de dormirme, yo no quería dormirme porque tenía miedo, fue bien complicado, no se lo deseo a nadie”.
En esas noches angustiosas, él pensaba en atletas y gente sana que ya había muerto por covid: “Había días que pasaba la noche en vela y venía durmiéndome en las mañanas”.
Luego del 24 de diciembre Correa se hacía la prueba anti-covid cada dos o tres días porque tenía compromisos de trabajo y necesitaba cumplir, pero seguía saliendo positivo hasta el 4 de enero, que finalmente cedió.
Sin embargo, después de vencer el coronavirus otra historia clínica comenzaría en su vida, a los 49 años: “A partir de darme covid me salió diabetes, que yo no tenía, y hasta me estoy inyectando insulina cada día”.
Su alimentación también cambió del cielo a la tierra. Antes comía desde frituras hasta arroz y habichuelas. Ahora lleva una dieta estricta sin grasas ni azúcares. “Desde enero estoy tomando pastillas desde que me levanto y antes de desayunar me pongo mis quince mililitros de insulina”, comentó.
Las consecuencias post-covid también son económicas. La nueva dieta le sale más costosa y en medicamentos gasta casi 15 mil pesos mensuales.
“No tomo nada con azúcar, no puedo tomar ningún tipo de jugos, no frutas de noche, cero grasa, nada frito, cero pan, solo el integral, no arroz blanco, pastas una vez, no yuca, guineítos sí, carnes a la plancha, víveres, tuna…”, detalló.
En la bebida alcohólica también debe cambiar sus hábitos: “Me tomo un trago de whisky, no más de ahí, yo que me sentaba a beberme un litro, pero ya no”.
En ese proceso entre enfermedad y dieta ha rebajado 30 libras. Llegó a pesar 250 y ya va por 220 y en caminar a rebajar cada vez más. “Ya estoy usando un size más pequeño en camisas, aunque yo no soy gordo, solo barrigón”, dijo. “Yo no empujo a nadie a que cree en el virus, pero de que da dá, yo soy un ejemplo”, afirmó.
De su familia solo se contagió su esposa, pero no de gravedad ni de gran cuidado. Lo positivo de esta experiencia negativa: “Es una vivencia, siempre se aprende, y uno le da más valor a la familia, a valorar las cosas pequeñas, a valorar momentos”.
